WCEF2026 Accelerator Session

WCEF2026 Accelerator Session

Session Description

India's Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework for used oil provides the policy foundation for a traceable and accountable management system. However, realizing its full potential requires a robust digital traceability framework capable of tracking used oil across the entire value chain.

Digital traceability is more than a compliance mechanism β€” it is a key enabler of circularity that helps reduce leakages, improve data integrity, strengthen market confidence, and support evidence-based decision-making.

This session will explore how India can strengthen and integrate its existing digital infrastructure into a comprehensive traceability framework aligned with its EPR regime. It will bring together government agencies, producers, recyclers, technology providers, and policymakers to discuss the essential building blocks of an effective system, including data architecture, interoperability, verification mechanisms, and governance.

Drawing on international best practices and implementation models, the session will identify practical lessons and conclude with a roadmap for piloting a scalable and replicable digital traceability framework to accelerate the transition towards a transparent, circular, and accountable used oil value chain.

India's Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework for used oil relies on digital traceability to strengthen transparency, accountability, and circularity across the value chain. This session will bring together key stakeholders to discuss digital solutions, global best practices, and scalable approaches for building an integrated traceability framework that supports effective EPR implementation and accelerates the transition to a circular used oil ecosystem.

Target Audience

Policymakers, regulatory authorities, producers, recyclers, technology providers, industry associations, international experts, researchers, and other stakeholders working on EPR, digital traceability, and circular resource management.
